Innovation challenges, prizes, and competitions are an incredible opportunity for companies to draw on knowledge from a collective crowd and pursue new ideas. But the benefits of these programmes are often overlooked in terms of the innovators themselves. When an organisation releases an innovation challenge, it opens up and shares with the public an important problem. This information can be very useful in itself, as it allows innovators to develop propositions, solutions, technology, and research that is relevant and necessary. These developments can be like a window into the future — the next world leader of innovation could be among our ranks.

But when we realised that no one was taking care of the innovators participating in these challenges, we decided to create Global Crowd, a collective platform to showcase innovation challenge across a wide range of industries. The challenges we feature operate on a worldwide scale and feature seekers looking for simple ideas all the way to complex functioning projects. We are committed to present relevant and new content for innovators in creative ways. We especially wanted to focus on the younger crowd, so we went to where they are: Instagram.

We aim to build a diverse online community from all over the world, populated by students, entrepreneurs, workers, freelancers, professors, and anyone with ideas and a dream to make the world a better place — and many of our featured challenges feature cash prizes, often upwards of $25,000.

Come for the challenges, but stay for the fun! In addition to featuring new challenges, we are committed to help solvers get inspired, get excited, and feel that they have the power to affect real change in the world. We are dreamers who delve into action, and with the challenges of COVID-19 affecting us all, we are eager to see all the new ideas that can help us recover. We are a small, UK-based team, with a global perspective and a commitment to the power of open innovation.

So far we’ve featured more than thirty challenges, from sponsors as prestigious as NASA, Volkswagen, and Habitat for Humanity. There are creative challenges to redevelop the Highgate Cemetery in London, to technical challenges to develop artificial kidneys, to challenges for scientific breakthroughs in new plant-based proteins. There is truly no limit to the challenges we promote, nor any restrictions on where our innovators are based. Solvers do not always necessarily have to be professionals or students in the fields of the challenge topic — all you need is a great idea.

So why don’t you follow us and share it with your friends? You’ll be helping us in our mission to reach more #globalinnovators.
